How do you deal with intermittent tool failures?
If your tool problem is repeatable, you know you can solve it: you verify the problem, you find it, you fix it, you verify your fix, and you’re done.
But intermittent problems, at global locations, are astonishingly time consuming and expensive. There’s the repeated service cost, of course: labor, travel, spares. But the really big cost is in the reputation damage.
At this lunch-and-learn, Alex McEachern will discuss practical patterns of intermittent failure at global fabs: power and ground, of course, but also surprising operator errors, earthquakes and micro-tremors, weather-related events, radiated energy, supplier surprises, transportation problems, and more. He will also offer some practical tips on cross-cultural solutions, and comments on solving the political fallout.
Alex McEachern has been solving tool problems at fabs around the world for 40+ years. Known for his cheerful, practical, hands-on teaching, he has been awarded 34 U.S. patents and is the Chair of SEMI Power Standards.
